Founding Team

Dr. Brian Fleischer

Executive Director and Founder

Dr. Fleischer is a physician with over 20 years of experience in global health. Before founding Akomapa Health Foundation, he worked with Doctors Without Borders and the World Health Organization, leading healthcare initiatives across Africa. He holds an MD from the University of Ghana Medical School and an MPH from Harvard University.

Dr. Sarah Ochieng

Director of Educational Programs

Dr. Ochieng specializes in public health education and community-based interventions. She has developed innovative health education programs that have been implemented across East Africa. She holds a PhD in Health Education from Makerere University and has published extensively on effective health communication strategies.

Dr. Emmanuel Kwarteng

Director of Professional Development

Dr. Kwarteng leads our healthcare workforce training initiatives. With a background in medical education and health systems strengthening, he has designed training programs that have equipped thousands of healthcare professionals across West Africa. He previously served as an advisor to Ghana's Ministry of Health on workforce development.

Dr. Aisha Nkrumah

Director of Research

Dr. Nkrumah oversees our research portfolio, focusing on generating evidence to improve healthcare delivery in resource-limited settings. She is an epidemiologist with expertise in infectious diseases and health systems research. Before joining Akomapa, she was a senior researcher at the Ghana Health Service and has led multiple international research collaborations.

David Kojo Ofosu

Co-Director

David is a medical student by day, gym bro by night. He's a sharp one - interested in a future career in surgery. You'd never guess, but he is incredibly talented on the violin.

Hafiz Shaban

Co-Director

Hafiz is a Nursing student with a great interest in Theatre Nursing and Public Health. He likes to get lost in good music, and might spend a moment or two scrolling on social media blogs to unwind.

Frederick Baffour

Finance Officer

Frederick is a Doctor of Optometry student with a great interest in Public Health, but he also likes to keep his eyes on the latest movies during his free time.

Geraldine-Cristal Apeadua Agyepong

Financial Officer

Geraldine is a Medical Student interested in Biomedical Engineering. She likes to unwind while playing some video games or watching anime.

Queenster Aduse-Opoku

Supplies Manager

Queenster is studying Pharmacy and loves everything concering drugs. She can get through anything, as long as she has enough hours of sleep.

Tony Bonsu Osei Kwarkye

Faculty Recruitment Lead

Tony is a Doctor of Optometry student with an interest in Diagnostic Imaging Techniques. If he's not studying, you'll probably find him behind a screen writing code or playing video games.

Martha Bawa

Asst. Supplies Manager

Martha is a Nursing student passionate about Peri-operative nursing care. She always has her nose buried in a book, and she's always ready to help out with anything.

Prince Nyarkoh

Community Liaison Officer

Prince is an Optometry student with a passion for Pharmcology and Pediatric Optometry. If you catch him watching an EPL football game, don't interrupt him. He's locked in.

Gloria Tawia Blay

Community Engagement Liaison

Gloria is a Pharmacy student who loves all things Mental Health and is passionate about providing holistic care. Outside of Pharmacy, she loves a good nap, soothing music, and taking quiet time to reflect.

Getwell Ebiram Essuman

Volunteer Recruitment & Scheduling Leader

Getwell is a Medical Laboratory Science student with an interest in diagnostics. Medical microbiology has a special place in his heart. He spends most of his time in the lab, but if you plan a video games night, he's the one to call.

David Konadu Kombate

Volunteer Recruitment & Scheduling Team Member

Belinda Odoom

Training & Standards Coordinator

Belinda is a Nursing student interested in Pediatric Nursing. She loves braiding, making wigs, and all things haircare.

Wilfred Obeng

Training & Standards Lead

Wilfred is a Medical student intereted in ways computational methods could be used to improve medical education and clinical practice. On the rare occasion he has some free time, he listens to podcasts and tries to catch up on sleep.
